The internet sucks on a mac, on windows, with IE, with mozilla, and with safari. It also sucks no matter who your ISP is. I have not found one combination that works. They all try to fix problems with one of their competitors, but inevitable forget something that is useful. I won't get into particulars, but suffice to say I am very close to throwing my $2000 email machine against the wall. And I'm 27 years old and computer literate, I can't imagine someone else having these problems. All computer programmers - you have either failed in your mission over the last 15 years to create something useful, or you are geniuses in the fact you will all be employed.
